ROWING

AUCKLAND CLUB MZI j PROSPECTS FOR SEASON Increased competition is held to bo the main reason for the Auckland Rowing Club’s lack of success at the regattas of last season. The report, which was presented at the 59th annual meeting of the' club held last evening, stated that the club’s finances were in a satisfactory position despite the fact that there was an overdraft. No plant had been bought last season though a new boat fund had been established, and it was hoped to purchase new practice fours and pairs before the removal of the clubhouse to its new site at the mouth of Purewa Creek. It was mentioned that next year would be the club's Diamond Jubilee, and that it was intended to commemorate the occasion by holding a reunion of past and present members. “Next season,” concludes the report, “the crews should be composed oT strong, active and willing members. The energy shown on boat repair work during the winter augurs well for the club’s success in the 1928-29 season.” The report and balance sheet as presented were adopted. The notice of motion moved by Mr. R. K. Stacey, who presided, “To increase the personnel of the executive from five members (as at present; to 1 seven, and the quorum from five (as at present) to six,” was carried. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. 11. Cleal; commodore, Mr. G. Hogan; vice-commodore, Mr. 11. , Schmidt; vice-presidents, the same as last year, with the addition of Mr. Bvgate; captain, Mr. R. K. Stacey; vicecaptain, Mr. R. Mahon; hon. treasurer, | Mr. R.
