£500,000 RESERVE
DRUIDS’ ACCUMULATION EXECUTIVE VISITS NORTH The executive of the United Ancient Order of Druids paid a visit to Whangarei and Dargaville on lodge business during the week, returning to Auckland yesterday. At each place a large number of Druids met the executive. The Grand President reported that the total funds of the society in the North Island had now reached over £500,000; that all sick pay was paid out of interest earned on the capital fund, and that all contributions to that fund were added to the capital. The insurance funds were increasing rapidly. Although the total death bejiefit was £l2O, the Grand Secretary reported that 10 claims had been paid out in one week. At a meeting of Nos. 6 and 23 districts, held in the Druids’ Hall, Newton, last evening, the Grand President, Bro. T. H. Wilson, said that although the G.L.N.I.N.Z. was established in New Zealand 31 years ago without funds and with few mem!/rs, the total funds were now over £500,000, and the membership over 15,000.
V.G.P. Bro. F. Jackson (Palmerston North), Grand Treasurer Bro. Laughton, Grand Secretary Bro. Grant, and Grand Guardian Bro. Lethaby, also spoke, the latter referring to propaganda work and the formation of a lodge at Otorolianga, which Started with 51 members about a month ago.
J.P.G.P. Bro. AV. Blomfield, who has had probably the longest experience in executive work, gave a reminiscent talk on the work of the various executives.
