CAR-DRIVER’S NEGLECT

FAILED TO STOP FOR CATTLE (From Oar Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. Because he failed to stop his car when approaching cattle, upon the request of the person in charge, Henry Charles Puckey, a service-car driver, was convicted at the Pukekohe Court to-day. A Puni farmer said he was driving about 40 head of cattle to Maramarua, and as the leading animals gained a one-way bridge, he observed the service car approaching. He signalled the driver to stop, but he ignored the request and proceeded ahead, knocking two cows over an eight feet bank and into a stream six feet deep. The magistrate, Mr. E. C. Cutten, ordered Puckey to pay £3 12s 3d costs.
