Playing against M. Mcßeth last week-end in the Hamilton-Titirangi match, Sloan Morpeth was round in 68. Against H. Randrup in his match in the first round of the championship Morpeth was more about 78. T. A. Goulding is in a soft patch at present, and his week-end record was to get put out in the first round of the Titirangi championship, and as No. 2 to lose or contribute to the loss of two matches against Hamilton. Geof. Gunson, who recently returned from England where he played sound golf—he was round in 74 in the third round of the British amateur and was beaten by something like five up—has been renewing acquaintances at Titirangi. I understand he is planning to return to the country out-back of Gisborne, which possibly means that he will not be heard from very much in New Zealand golf. * * * Noel Bull and Dodgshun will probably appreciate him. Bull, fortified by his match against H. B. Lusk at Rotorua, returned home and won the club title from Dodgshun. Unbelievable as it almost is, Dr. Buckley, of Whangarei, who was at Middlemore during this year’s provincial, was put out of the Whangarei club title by playing the wrong ball at the 19th! Siefert, sen., had a similar penalty at Rotorua a few weeks ago, and was disqualified in the qualifying rounds, not that he looked much like qualifying.
