GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. T. A. ASHTON Two Auckland residents for over 4f» years. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Ashton, of 16 Vincent Avenue, Remuera, celebrate their golden wedding to-day. Married in Pendleton, Manchester, in 1878, Mr. and Mrs. Ashton left England for New Zealand in 1883, arriving in Auckland after a voyage of four months. Their first home was in Mount Albert, where they lived for 40 years, moving to their present home in Remuera in 1524. Mr. Ashton is still actively engaged in business in the city. He is an enthusiastic bowler and was one of the first members of the Mount Albert Club, of which he is a life member. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ashton are 75 years of age. There is a family of three sons and four daughters, and there are 18 grandchildren. The eldest son was killed during the war. The anniversary was celebrated to-day by a family reunion.
