Lawrie, is also reported to be likely to withdraw from the contest. As matters stand at presJ£S re are only two candidates definitely in the field, Messrs. G. T. Parvin (Liberal) and H. O. Mellsop (Country).

Mr. McLennan has been member ior Franklin since June 17, 1925, when he was elected to succeed Air. Massey. Both at the by-election and at the General Election in the same year he polled several thousand votes more than his nearest opponents.
