PAKURANGA HUNT
FINAL, MEET OF SEASON There was a large attendance of huntsmen and guests at the final meet of the season of the Pakuranga Hunt, held yesterday afternoon on the estate of Mr. Wills McLaughlin, at Pulii Xui, Papatoetoe. During the meet, the hunt did not leave the spacious property of their host, and a couple of very enjoyable runs were had, but in both instances, the hares found shelter in the scrub. In several of the draws, the pack had to contend with cross scents, and on more than one occasion the pack split and had to be worked off by the huntsmen, and reset on another draw. A good variety of obstacles were encountered, with stone walls predominating, and the sight of the pack working through the bush presented a pleasing picture to the large gathering of interested spectators. At the conclusion of the meet the followers and spectators were the guests of Mrs. Wills McLaughlin to afternoon tea, served on the verandah of the old homestead.
Mr. H. Bullock-Webster, master of the hunt, thanked the hostess lor her continued hospitality to the hunt, and paid tribute to the late Mr. William McLaughlin, the foundation master of the Pakuranga Hunt. Among the followers were;
