SPEED TURNED ON
SPECTATORS at Alexandra Park k -' on Saturday morning were treated to a splendid exhibition of speed by Western King, who was associated in a mile bout with Jewel Pointer. Trainer Shaw drove the former, and Claude Fairman was behind the New Zealand Cup candidate, who beat his stable mate out of the slips by several lengths. When the final half was entered Jewel was bowling along merrily in front, with Western King putting in telling work. Turning for home, Claude was a couple of lengths clear, but the exAustralian pacer unwound a great burst of speed, to get on terms with Jewel Pointer at the post.
