RHODES SCHOLARSHIP
TWO OTAGO NOMINEES Press Association DUNEDIN, Monday. From four names submitted by the executive of the Otago University Students’ Association, Mr. Frank Marcus Hanan, son of the Hon. J. Hnnan. and Mr. Wilton Ernest Henley have been selected by the council of the. university as Otago nominees for the two Rhodes scholarships which are available to New Zealand students in 1928. Mr. F. M. Hanan, who is 21, is a law student at Otago University. He won a Junior National Scholarship in 1921 and went to Wellington College. He was prominent in most of the school sports and other activities, and was captain of the XL and XV. He entered the university in 1925, and has done very well in his law examinations, lie has represented the university in debates, and has been prominent in cricket. He is a member of the Rugby first XV.
Mr. W. E. Henley is 21, and is in * his second year as a medical student. He was for two years at Napier High School, and in 1923 went to Wanganui College, where he passed matriculation and won a Senior National Scholarship. Later he won a university entrance scholarship. He was head of the school and won many prizes. He has taken first classes in his university examinations. At school he was in the cricket and football teams, and at the university he has played tennis and Rugby, and is on various students’ committes.
