£13,500 FOR NEWMARKET

LOAN POLL ON OCTOBER 18 At a special meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council, yesterday morning, sanction was granted by the Local Government Loans Board for the council to take a poll of ratepayers on proposals to borrow £13,500 for works in the borough. The date of the poll was fixed for Thursday, October 18. The council wishes to* raise £11,500 for drainage work, £1,200 for the alteration of a car-stop and the building of a safety-zone in the Triangle, and £BO9 for reconstruction work at Mortimer’s Pass.
