The conference was held to consider tne organisation and conditions of high schools. ... ? e ™ < l 1 P tions vere Passed as follow: H) lhis conference approves of the principle of the transference of standards five and six pupils from the Pfl-cary to post-primary institutions; Present organisation of district high schools may readily be modihed to include junior high school classes; (3) in localities where consolidation is not practicable standards five and six of district high schools should o© transferred to secondary department, and there taught, as far as possible, upon broad lines of the junior high school; (4) salaries of assistantteachers.in junior and senior secondary classes in district high schools should be equal to those of assistants doing similar work in secondary schools; (5) having regard to the qualifications required, duties, and responsibilities of the positions, headmasters of district high and junior high schools are inadequately paid, and remuneration should approximate more closely that of headmasters in secondary schools.
The resolutions are being sent through the Educational Institute to the Minister of Education.
