WAIHIS were active on a market firm at 13s this morning. The market, generally, is quiet, with several of the more popular shares showing an easier tendency.

Banks are very quiet, although the market for most shares remains steady at late levels. Unions of Australia, dealt with outside the call room at £ls 8s this morning, show an advantage of 3s on the market at the time of the last Auckland sale recorded for the week ended September 5. New Zealand Insurances are very firm, with sellers at 44s 6d, supported by buyers at 445. Buyers of Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering ordinaries improved fid this

morning, but are still well below sellers’ ideas of value. In coals, Pukemiros are very firm, with buyers offerng 71s and no declared sellers. Slightly more attention is being paid to local body securities. Auckland Hospital Board 5J per cent, debentures came on the market at mid-day, with sellers at £IOO 10s, supported by buyers at £9B 10s. Business at this morning’s early call: On ’Change—Waihi Mining, 13s. Business at mid-day: Reported— Union Bank of Australia, £TS 7s; Waihi Mining, 13s.
