SIR JOSEPH WARD ACCEPTS At the United Party's conference at Wellington to-day Sir Joseph Ward announced his acceptance of the Party leadership. Mr. G. W. Forbes, M.F., for llurunui. and Mr. E. A. Ransom, M.P., for Pahiatua, have been chosen as deputy-leaders of the United Party. GREAT DEATH-ROLL Porto Rico advices estimate the number ol dead from the tornada at 2,000.
