A Letter About Them and the Parts they Play In the following letter from London a writer gives some interesting facts about London’s favourite stage stars. Incidentally many Australians known to New Zealanl theatregoers are also mentioned. I There is only one Jack Buchanan ; on the stage to-day. He is in “That’s a Good Girl,” at the Hippodrome. [ His perfect ease and sangfroid on the stage is a delight to the eye. Vera I Pearce plays a naughty vamp in the j show. I There is only one Stanley Lupino. j In “So This Is Love,” he introduces a hundred tricks for gaining laughter. Each entrance he makes is the signal for a yell from- the audience. The dancing honours of the show go to Reita Nugent, Cyril Richards, ami
Madge Elliott. The latter pair have gained that West End touch of finesse in their work, and Madge’s voice has improved tremendously. There is only one Gerald du Maurier. Although his vehicle ‘S.O.S.” is not strong, his acting was perfect.
