A NEW THRILL

SOCIETY PEOPLE ATTEND ' DANCE AT ELSTREE FILM : FACTORY AS SMART SUPERS

RANEE ONE OF GUESTS

31km

>RTY people prominent in London social circles motored from Mayfair to the Elstree film studio ij» Hertfordshire the other evening to

take part in a film, “A Kuiglit in London,” which is being produced there by the new Blattner Film Corporation. They arrived at Elstree at 6 p.m., and for three hours their faces and hands were made up by dressers engaged for the occasion. Then they danced from 9 p.m. until 2 o'clock on a polished floor in a brilliantly lighted room to the strains of a jazz band.

They were in evening dr,ess and the scene might have been that of a Mayfair ballroom, except that the dancers were ordered about by the producer. On one side of the room was a buffet at which the players could take refreshment —-when the producer gave them permission. The scene, which represented a country-house party, was arranged by Mrs. Wilfrid Ashley, wife of the Minister of Transport. An “Original” Dance To make the party realistic, Mrs. Ashley asked some of her friends if they would like to go to an “original” dance, and they readily assented. Among these one-night film actors and actresses were: The Liberian Minister and his wife, Mme. Dresselhuys, the Ranee of Sarawak and her daughters, Miss Elizabeth and Miss

Leonora Brooke, Mrs. Cory-Wright, Captain Gifford, Captain and Mrs. Booth, the Hon. Maurice Brett, Mrs. Brett, formerly Miss Zena Dare, and their daughter, Angela, Mr. Rodney Slefford, Miss Victoria Oliphant and Miss Beryl Egerton.
