PAKURANGA HUNT
POINT-TO-POINT STEEPLES GOOD RACING WITNESSED As a fitting finale to one of the most successful hunting seasons yet enjoyed by the Pakuranga Hunt, the club held its point-to-point steeplechases on the farm of Mr. F. A. Price, Ranganui. Papatoetoe, thns afternoon in ideal weather. There was a large attendance of the public, and of farmers over whose property the hunts are held. An ideal course had been planned, the horses being in view for practically the full distnace of three miles. The judging was in the hands of Messrs. J. H. Dalton and Mr. J. Sharp; starter, Mr. E. J. Rae; clerk of the course, Mr. P. 11. Smith, huntsman of the club. Results: MEMBERS’ LIGHT-WEIGHT RACE About 3 miles. MANGA ITU (Mr. A. M. Wilson’s), rider F. 11. Baker 1 PADDY (Miss E. Lloyd’s), rider Mr. W. B. Lloyd 2 TE HOREA (Mr. 11. Rothery’s), rider E. Ward 3 From a good start the field kept well together, with All Black leading till the last quarter of a mile, when it followed the wrong course, and left Paddy leading by a couple of lengths. Salvaboy held the lead till the last jump, when Aotea-road, who had filled second place for the full distance, took charge and won by two lengths.
