NOT ENOUGH TRAMS

BIG LOAN MOOTED

While the outside local bodies have arranged another conference for Tuesday to discuss the transport position and prospects for a board, the Citv Council is proceeding to discuss the tramway undertaking and its development, and tlie prospect of another loan poll for a huge sum looms in the offing. The Tramway Committee is placed in a somewhat unfortunate position in that while it is unanimously in favour of a transport - board, it Ims to realise that the rolling stock is insufficient and is being overworked, and tramway extensions are still urgently wanted. The committee is considering the position, and is likely to make further recommendations to the council at its next meeting, a fortnight hence.
