POLO GAME ON STAGE
NOVEL IDEA IN LONDON EX-ARMY OFFICERS TO PLAY (Australian and N.Z. Press Associa t ion J LOHDON, Tuesday. Seven retired Army captains have been engaged to give demonstration polo matches on the huge stage of the Coliseum Theatre, London. Their ponies have been insured for £ 5,000. Imitation turf has been laid and the "field” has been roped off in order to prevent the ponies falling into the or-chestral-well. The games will consist of two eight-minute chukkers with two players on each side. The fact is recalled that when t,he Coliseum was opened an attempt was made to enact the Derby upon a revolving stage. A horse was precipitated. into the orchestra-well, and its jockey was killed.
