THE ROAR OF THE ENGINES

Sir, — I read in The Sun of September 11 an article referring to the broadcast from IYA of the take-off from Sydney of the trans-Tasman flyers. It contained this paragraph: “It was with some amusement that thq listeners-in, after having heard 2BL give a full account of the flight and take-off, heard IYA come on to announce that the flight was to take place and the engines of the Southern Cross were being tuned up.” Would IYA or some of the experts explain to the listeners what really happened? Maybe someone left a door open leading from the dynamo room. LISTEN.
