TAUMARUNUI’S SUCCESS
FINE BALANCE-SHEET (Special to THE SUN) TAUMARUNUI, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Taumarunui Racing Club was held last night, the president, Mr. W. S. Wackrow, presiding. The chairman explained that the club had not succeeded in its application for another permit for a twoday meeting, and would have to be content with one day this year. The committee’s report stated that the last race meeting of two days passed off successfully, there being no accidents and no protests, and visitors were unanimous in their appreciation of the club/s efforts in conducting the meeting. .The balance-sheet, which showed a profit of £2,784 17s Id for the year, was adopted. The following officers were elected: Pati'on, Air. R. W. Smith, AI.P.; president, Air. W. H. Wackrow; vice-presi-dents, Alessrs. A. Cai'lson, A. Adsett, R. Craig, ’C. J. Ryan and G. S. Steadman; committee of management, Alessrs. W. S. Wackrow, A. Carlson, R. C. Craig, G. Steadman, G. E. Manson, T. AI. Peters and T. G. Lawler; stewards, Alessrs, G. E. Alanson,, T. AI. Peters, W. H. Signal, G. H. Burtenshaw, J. A. Goodsii', W. J. Curtis, T. J. Lawler, J. W. L. White, W. Forbes and C. A. Boles; judge, Air. R. B. Lusk; handicapper, Air. F. AlcAlanemin: starter, Air. C. O’Connor; clerk of scales, Air. T. AI. Peters; clerk of course, Air. R. Meredith; timekeeper, Air. C. Simons; auditor, Air. W. McWatters; treasurer, Mr. G. E. Alanson; secretary, Air. Sam Sarah.
The committee’s report for the past year indicated what work had been done, and disclosed that the club was now in a slightly better position than it had been in for several years past. It was intimated that the next race meeting would take place on December 8.
Messrs. A. Kinnell and C. Vallanc© were elected new. members of the club. Arrangements in connection with tht
programme were left in the hands of the committee. It was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to Air. A. Adsett, a great worker for the club, who has been incapacitated through a serious injury. Complimentary reference was made by the president to the excellent assistance given the club by Mr. W. White, who in the office of assistantsecretary had been invaluable, and had been instrumental in securing 25 nominations for events at the last meeting.
