Hunt Club to Enjoy Keen Day’s Sport

I I PAKURANGA’S POINT-TO-POINT STEEPLECHASES ON SATURDAY After a very successful and pleasant season following the hounds, the members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, together with their friends, will meet at “Ranginui,” Papatoetoe, on Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of the annual Point-to-Point Steeplechases. Always a most attractive wind-up, these contests furnish really keen sport among the amateur riders, ladies and gentlemen, and competition is very wholehearted in the race to become possessed of the valuable trophies. In addition, the Point-to-Point meeting provides one of the social events of the season. Saturday’s gathering will be followed a fortnight later by the Pakuranga Hunt Club’s annual race meeting at Ellerslie. The programme arranged for Saturday comprises five events, as follow, a start being made at 1 o’clock: Members’ Light-weight Race (weight 11.0), about 3 miles. Twelve entries. Members’ Heavy-weight Race (weight 12.7), about 3 miles. Fourteen entries. Farmers* Race (weight 11.7), about 3 miles. Open to horses owned by farmers over whose land the Hunt Club has permission to hunt. Seven entries. Invitation Race (weight 12.0), about 3 miles. Open to horses owned and ridden by members of any duly registered Hunt Club. Eight entries. Ladies’ Race (weight 9.7), about 2 miles. For lady members only. Open to horses which have been genuinely hunted six times by lady members of the Hunt Club. Five entries. Open Point-to-Point, Race (weight 11.0), about 3 miles. Open to horses owned and ridden by members of any duly registered hunt club. Seventeen entries. An excellent course has been secured on the property, giving spectators a fine view of the contests. This country is on the Mr. F. A. Price’s farm, “Ranginui,” Papatoetoe, and that spot* should be the rendezvous of a large number of bunting enthusiasts and their supporters. The officials for the fixture are as follow: Master, Mr. H. Bullock-Web-ster; Hunt Committee, Messrs. J. Adams, B. H. Bishop, J. Buchanan, W. S. Dalton, W. T. Duder, W. W. McLaughlin. B. M. Myers, F.
