RIALTO AND REGENT EPSOM
“13 WASHINGTON SQUARE” The most entertaining mystery comedy to be screened in Auckland will be shown this evening at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres. It is “13 Washington Square,” a Universal picture co-starring Jean Hersholt and Alice Joyce. It i-s from the famous play by Leroy Scott, and was prepared for the screen by Harry O. Hoyt, one of the greatest of Hollywood’s comedy scenarists. “1% Washington Square,” is a riotous comedy. But it also has a serious theme which i-s carried with the utmost finesse by Jean Hersholt and Alice Joyce, who give probably the greatest characterisations of their screen careers.
The love interest is capably handled by George Lewis, of “The Collegians” fame, and Helen Foster, a new and very pretty newcomer.
■“Somehow Good,” an excellent British picture with the talented stage Actress Fay Compton in the leading -role, will also be shown.
