MAJESTIC
COV/BOY BAND AND “PATSY”
A story of a bright little girl in a typical American home is the best description one can apply to “The Patsy,” which will be shown for the last time at the Majestic Theatre this evening.
Marion Davies is her old self in the role of “Pat” Harrington, and the picture abounds with her quaint sayings and humorous situations. To-morrow the Majestic management will present for the first time a remarkable picture entitled “The Gateway of the Moon,” starring Dolores Del Hio. In this stirring story of South America she is a half-caste niece of the tyrannical George Gillespie, chief engineer of the little post in the jungle wilds where Arthur Wyatt has gone to superintend the building of a railroad. At first, through her uncle’s influence, she is inclined to be suspicious of Wyatt, but she falls in love with the handsome engineer in spite, of the fact that he ignores her entirely, and when she discovers that her uncle is plotting against him she risks her own life to save his. „ . The picture is filled with thrilling adventure, suspense and romance cleverly woven together into an absorbing story. Walter Pidgeon plays the leading male part. Others in the cast are Leslie Fenton, Anders Randolf, Ted McNamara. Adolf Millar and Noble Johnson.
Fred Mayfield’s Cowboy Band is scoring a triumph each evening. A varied programme of music is offered by no less than 37 different instruments, and all are delightful to the ear. Every instrument is in the hands of a master and the harmony provided is unquestionably beautiful. All the latest jazz numbers are played with success and the feet long for the freedom of the dance floor.
The players are applauded vociferously and have to respond to a Second appreciation before the audience is satisfied.
The accompaniment for the pictorial side of the programme is provided, as usual, by the capable Majestic Orchestra, under Mr. Whiteford Waugh.
