MILITARY OFFENDERS
FINES IMPOSED EXEMPTION GRANTED A number of youths were prosecuted before Mr. F. Ki Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday afternoon for various offences, against the Defence Act. For failing to register, A. G. Holland was fined £4 and costs. Failure to attend drill cost K. W. Crowley and M. J. Moore £1 and costs, and C. J. Bleakley, R. A. C. Reid and J. J. Taylor were ordered to pay costs. For the same offence H. V. Hogg, T. Hewitt and T. F. Ferguson were convicted and discharged. The cases of B. V. Bushell and F. White were’ adjourned for a month. , Failure to notify changes in address cost A. Isaacs £2 and costs, R. E. Farrant £1 and costs, and C. H. Small 10s and costs. W. C. Purdy was convicted and ordered to pay costs. On the ground of religious belief T. Litherland was granted exemption from military training. A similar order was made in the case of A. S. McLachlan. S. Booth and F. M. Holley were granted exemption on condition that they attended camps.
