“MAYOR A GOOD SPORT”

KINGSFORD SMITH SAYS SO Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tc^day. “I want to tell you that I’ve formed an entirely different opinion of your Mayor since I’ve met him,” said Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith at the smoke concert given in honour of the flyers by the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening. Hearty applause greeted this remark. “There has been some little controversy about taking off and landing on different days of the week,” continued the airman, amid laughter. “I can say this for your Mayor. He has taken it like the damn good sport that he is. “I hope when I attain the dignified position which he holds that I will be able to carry it off with the same dignity that he has given it—although I’m not a parson,” he concluded.
