The first round proper of the ladies’ championship resulted as follows: —Miss Forbes defeated Miss T. Holloway, C and 5; Miss Short defeated, Miss L. Wilson, 4 and 3: Mrs.' Birkmyer defeated Mrs. Carroll, 5 and 4; Mrs. Jessop defeated Mrs. O'Sullivan, 5 and 3. The second round was begun yesterday, when Mrs. Birkmyer defeated Miss Short, 3 and 1.
