Gold-tipped Feather, of the Araiii Company, reports for August: “On Thursday, August 16, two recruits were enrolled, and only a short meeting was held to allow plenty of time for the Maori badge examination, for which eight candidates sat. all passing. “In the basketball tournament at the Curran Street schoolgrounds on Saturday, August 18, the Arahi team managed to beat St. John’s team, thus gaining a place in the finals for the district. The All Saints’ team won the finals for our district, and we wish them every success when they meet the winning teams from the other districts. “On Friday. August 31, the company w’ent for a hike to the Western Springs, where a number of tenderfoot Guides passed second-class tests in fire-light-ing, tracking and stalking. Sundry showers did not prevent the girls from having a very happy time. “Church parades this month we» held at the Church of the Epiphany, on Sunday, August 12, wfiien the colours of the Epiphany Guides were dedicated, and at St. Stephen’s on August 19.” Waving Plume reports for the Manure wa Company: “Our birthday party, which was held on August 18, was a great success. Everyone spent a happy evening with games, singing and other items.

Parents friends of the Guides were also ther • •We had a delightful birthday and a cake, beautifully decorated, w 1 four lighted candles on it.
