VISITING AUCKLAND
At the Pacific Club, Wellesley Street, last Monday evening, a dinner was arranged by the District Commissioner for Scouts, Mr. Holdsworth, in honour of Dr. F. Burnham, D.D., a member of the National Boy Scout Council of America, who is at present visiting Auckland. Among the guests were the AssistantCommissioner, Mr. E. B. B. Boswell; District Secretary J. J. Mead; Mr. A. J. Veart, District 'Commissioner for Wolf Cubs; Mrs. A. E. M. Roughton, District Cubmaster; Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, a member of the Scout Finance Board; and District Scoutmasters and Cubmasters, Mr. Holdsworth welcomed Dr. Burnham on behalf of the Auckland district, and expressed pleasure at receiving a member of the National Council of America, this indicating the true spirit of brotherhood in the Scout world. Mr* Hutchinson referred to the new era of Scouting in Auckland and the fellowship and co-operation among members of the Scouts’ Association. Mr. Boswell recalled the spirit of comradeship shown by the American Scouts in the welcome extended to Patrol Leader Plowman, a Grey Lynn Scout, who recently left New Zealand for Cincinnati. Dr. Burnham suitably replied, expressing pleasure at his happy meeting with members of the Boy Scouts’ Association in Auckland,
