PRESENTATION MADE
POLICE SERGEANT HONOURED After being in charge of the Newmarket Police Station for the past 12 years, Sergeant J. Rock was met by fellow members of the police force last evening and presented with a Chinese clock as a tribute to his popularity in the force. All the Newmarket constables were present, and constables from Remueru, Epsom and Ellerslie stations. In making the presentation to Sergeant and Mrs. Rock, Superintendent W. G. Wohlmann referred to the long and meritorious service rendered by Sergeant Rock in the force. Constable Mclnness, of Remuera, referred to the good feeling existing between Sergeant Rock and. the constables, and Constable Wright, of Newmarket, referred to the great assistance rendered to members of the staff by Mrs. Rock, who had always taken a kindly interest in them. In reply Sergeant Rock expressed his regret at severing his connections with so many good comrades, though he would find it pleasant to enjoy a good holiday after so many years of work. He thanked them for their fine present, which would always serve as a reminder of the happy days he had spent at Newmarket.
