FRANKTON STOCK SALE
BEEF MARKET FIRM Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton Saleyards on Tuesday, September 11, as under:— There was a good yarding of beef, including some choice lots of prime bullocks. Prices ruled on a par with last week’s rates. Prime ox sold n.t / equal to 43s a hundred. Best bullocks sold at up to £2O, this .price being on account of Mr. E. W. R. Leslie, and bought by Mr. Wm. Thomas. Choice young cows and heifers sold at up to £l3 17s 6d. Ordinary fat cows and heifers, £lO 10s £, 12 ,- ss; interior ditto, £6 15s to £9 J2s 6d; light and’unfinished, £4 15s to £6 ~s 6d. There was a moderate yarding of store cattle. We yarded and sold a line of 120 store cows—mostly Shortnorns, for which competition was very keen, and all pens sold under the hammer as under: Good-conditioned store cows, £6 6 ® t( ? £7 8s; lighter sorts, £5 15s to £6; boners, £4 10s to £5. Dairy cattle were yarded in fair numbers and good competition for all good quality cows and heifers near profit. Good Jersey cross heifers, £l2 10s to £l3 ssothers, £8 to £ll 10s; cows close to profit, £lO 5s to £l3 10s; more backward sorts, £7 10s to £9 15s. There .was a small yarding of fat sheep. Prices were on a par with last week’s, lates, but on the whole the quality was not too good. Heavy prime wethers sold at up to 46s 6d: medium weight ditto, 395; Wes ’ 22s ' i- at woolly hoggets, 345. There was a medium yarding of all classes ot pigs, which sold easier than the previous sale. Heavy baconers, £3 fts to £3 12s; medium ditto, £2 18s to £3 os; porkers £2 5s to £2 13s; light. £1 18s to £2 2s; large stores, £1 8s to £1 12s, slips, 16s to £1 3s; weaners, 12s to los: others, 6s to 9s. AuctioneeringCo.; Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock market, in the Frankton yards, yesterday, we had a good entry of fat cattle. • Prices were on a par with last week, although heavy prime heifers sold exceptionally well. We quote:—Bullocks, fat, £l4 7s 6d to £1» 10s; medium, £ll 15s to £l3 13scows, heavy, fat. £l2 15s to £ls 15s; medium, £9 12s 6d to £l2 9s; light, £6 15s to £S 10s; heifers, prime fat, £ls 15s to £l7; medium, £lO 12s 6d to £ll 15s; cows, fresh conditioned, £5 2s to £6 7s 6d; store, £3 14s to £4 19s; cows, close to profit, £l2 10s to £l4 4s; heifers, Jersey erbss, close to profit, £l2 10s to £l3 10s; Shorhorn cross, £lO 10s to £l2; backward, £8 10s to £9 10s. There was a small yarding of fat sheep which sold about equal to last week’s rates. Wethers, fat, £2 Is to £2 ss; ewes £1 14s to £1 15s 6d; ewes, forward, £1 9s to £1 12s 6d; hoggets, mixed sexes, £1 6s to £1 16s 3d; hoggets, ewe, prime, £2 Is to £2 6s; heavy baconers, £3 3s to £3 10s; light, £2 12s to £2 17s; heavy porkers £2 6s to £2 14s; light, £1 18s to £2 3s; good stores, £1 10s to £1 15s; slips, 18s to £1 4s; weaners, 9s t 14s; bobby calves, 9s to !7s. ____
