ALBURN I A.—No. 2 rise on the hangingwall branch of the Orlando reef has been risen 4ft, a total of 26ft. The reef here still averages 2ft 6in wide, and has been mixed up with mullock, but is improving again. Repairs have been done to the main level. Cleaning out of the drive north on the hangingwall branch of Orlando reef has been completed and the line relaid. A start will be made to-dav driving on the reef. Clearing out of the duve on the footwall dropper of Sons of I reedom reef has been completed and passes put in ready for rising which will be started to-day NEW WAI OTA H I.—The drive toward Caledonian reef has been advanced oft for the week. The country being passed through is exceptionally favourable for gold should a reef be met with. Only one shift is at present employed. MOANATAIARI.—During the week the crosscut was advanced sft. The country is firmer, but of a good description. The reef over the back of the drive is smaller, and a break has come across the face. The reef has dived into the footwall and shows nice colours of gold. KURANUI.—The manager reports: “The drive on Barry’s reef has been driven a further Oft for the week. The country being met with is still of a good description. The reef has not been quite so heavily mineralised for the last few feet, but still shows some good indications for making gold, but so far none has been seen. A rise was als® started on this reef on Thursday, a distance of 4ft having been risen. The quartz broken from here shows some nice mineral and blend, but no gold was seen.” 1
