A HEALTHY tone was recorded on ’Change this morning. The volume of business, however, was light.
rpHE banking section is quiet, but steady. Nationals of Australasia have firmed slightly in the South and a re strongly held here, with sellers of the £5 paids asking £9 11s. In the loan and agency section the market for New Zealand Loan and Mercantile has a firming tendency, buyers improving to £ll2 this morning. Other shares in this section remain firm. Taupiri Coals show a further weakening, sales being recorded at 26s t»d. 3d below the market at the date of the last sale. Buyers of Renowns are improving slowly. Devonport Steams touched a new recent high level in the call room this
morning several small parcels changing hands at 255. British Tobaccos are very firm, the market improving to see business at 445.
