ROWING AT NORTH SHORE

CLUB’S ANNUAL REPORT The North Shore Rowing Club will hold its 55th annual general meeting on Wednesday, September 19. The membership roll stands at 45 active members and 16 life members. The annual report states that all regatta winnings have been set aside for the purchase of new plant. Two practice boats and oars have been purchased and an order placed with Messrs. Edwards and Sons for a new clinker racing pair and convertible double sculls, which are expected in New Zealand at the end of December. A social committee had raised £l7O for the payment for new boats. The club members kept fit by entering a football team in the third grade League competitions, under the auspices of the Devonport United Club. In addition a charity dance was organised and £l6 18s divided between unemployed relief organisations in Devonport and Auckland. The club’s regatta results were: Tauranga: one first and two second places; Hamilton: one second place; Rangiriri; A.R.A. junior fours championship and three second places; Ngaruawahia; one first and three second places; Auckland: A.R.A. junior pair oars and single sculls. In interclub racing the Barrett Cup, Mason Cup (pair-oar), Mcll wraith Cup (second place), and the Mason Cup (for fours), second place went to the club.
