ADELPHI, GREY LYNN

“DRESSED TO KILL” ‘Dressed to Kill,” a powerful drama starring Edmund Lowe and Mary Astor, will be shown at the Adelphi Theatre, Grey Lynn, this evening. The story tells o the uncrowned king of the underworld, who daily lives the life of a gentleman of culture and wealth, and of his downfall, brought about by a girl detective. “The Yellow Lily,” a story of Hungarian Court life, will also be shown, with Billie Dove and Clive Brook in the main roles. The Heeney-Tunney fight film will be screened to-night as an added attraction. “THE WARNING” AT EMPIRE “The Warning,” starring Jack Holt, will be shown again this evening at the Empire Theatre. “The Warning” is a powerful picturisation of the British “Silent Service” at work in the underground dens of China. It is redblooded drama, full of action and tense situations, filmed against the subtle atmosphere of the Orient, with its mysterious brotherhoods and curious temples undermined with secret passages and torture chambers. Jack Holt has a two-fisted role, in which he literally fights his way into the hearts of his audience and wins the love of the heroine. A fight on the stairs and an explosion in the temple key the audience to high tension, as it awaits the outcome in breathless suspense. Tom Mix and his horse are the heroes in “The Baredevil’s Reward,” which will also be shown. COLLEEN MOORE AT BRITANNIA “Happiness Ahead,” a comedy-drama, starring Colleen Moore, will be shown at the Britannia Theatre this evening. Miss Moor© plays a small town girl married to a dapper card-sharp from the city. He is genuinely fond of her and determines to go straight, but an old flame let the police know where he is. He tries to keep his young wife in ignorance that he is going to prison by telling her his firm has offered him an advance which will take him to Buenos Aires for several months. lie has letters sent to her from that city. Edmund Lowe plays the role of her husband.

“Youth and a Whirlwind” is the second attraction, w T ith Clive Brook as the featured player.
