WONDERFUL FAREWELL
“LEAGUE OF NOTIONS” REVUE One of the most enthusiastic farewells that Auckland has ever seen was accorded the League of Notions Revue Company at the St. James Theatre on Saturday evening. The members of the company excelled themselves at the final performance. At the conclusion Mr. Mike Connors, in a happy speech, thanked Aucklanders for their support and for their wonderful farewell. A large crowd gathered at the Railway Station last evening, and speeded the company with another rousing farewell. “DIVINE WOMAN” AT EDENDALE The story of a little peasant girl who became the most famous actress of her day, is the story of “The Divine Woman,” to be shown at the Edendale Theatre this evening. Greta Garbo, the screen’s great dramatic actress, and Lars Hanson, have the leading roles. The theme is said to be the life story of Sarah Bernhardt, and tells of a famous actress who, with the world at her feet, left it all for the love of a common soldier. “The Wreck,” starring Shirley Mason and Malcolm McGregor, is the second feature on the programme. DIXIELAND CABARET Dancing will be enjoyed at the Dixieland Cabaret again this evening from 8.30 p.m. to midnight. Music will be supplied by the Dixieland Famous Dance Band. A United Tennis Club Dance will be held at Dixieland on Wednesday evening and on September 26 there will be a Monster Charity Ball with numerous cabaret items.
