BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL

SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY SERVICES WELL ATTENDED The Town Hall was crowded to capacity yesterday, when the 70th anniversary of the Baptist Tabernacle Sunday School was celebrated. Large congregations attended the three special services held in the morning, afternoon and evening. A distinctive feature of the rally was - the choral singing by the scholars, assisted by the Tabernacle Chorus Choir, a total of 400 voices. The Rev. J. J. North, principal of the Baptist Training College, preached at the morning service, which was conducted by the Rev. Joseph W. Kemp, and in the afternoon the service was led by the acting-superinten-dent of the school, Mr. S. Barry- An address was given by the Rev. A. W. Bean. The sermon preached at the evening service by the Rev. Joseph W. Kemp was broadcast by station IYA.

The soloists at the different services throughout the day were Miss Doreen Logan, Miss Oriel Merson, Miss Grace Johnston, Miss Ruth Wilson, Miss Josie Priest, Mr. A. H. Reynolds and Mr. Laurence North. Duets were given by Misses Doris Reevely and May Williams, and by Misses Joyce Ellingham and Marjorie Montgomery. The offerings for the day amounted to £lls.
