RAILWAY PRESENTATION
MR. H. H. LOWE’S SUCCESS Members of the railway staff at the Auckland station met on Saturday f'vening- to make a presentation to Mr. H. H. Lowe, who recently retired on s uperannuation from the position of °hief passenger foreman after 40 years’ service with the railway department. Among those present were Mr. IT. H. sterling general manager. New Zealand Railways, Mr. K. Casey, Divisional Superintendent, Mr. J. G. Rickerby, Traffic Manager and Mr. B. •larks, representing the locomotive b »*anch. About 170 members were Present and many toasts were Honoured. Mr. Sterling, on behalf of those Present, presented Mr. Lowe with a r ase of pipes and a tobacco pouch. He Paid a high tribute to Mr. Lowe’s work •'jnd spoke of his great interest in the department's welfare. In reply Mr. Lowe said that 40 Years was not far to look back on, but t was a long way to look ahead. He traced his activities with the department and impressed on the younger members present to take a keen interest in their work. Luring the evening items were connbuted by Messrs. Casey, S. Gray. *‘nd Lonigan. Mr. K. Murphy was at piano. Mr. S. Connett organised tne function.
