FIRE CAUSED FAILURE
THAMES TOBACCONIST GOES BANKRUPT
A fire in July this year ruined the tobacconist’s business in Thames of James Hogg, a married man with four years’ war service. At a meeting of his creditors this morning Hogg’s affairs were left in the hands of Mr. G. N. Morris, the official assignee, for arrangement. Bankrupt’s assets were £386, his debts £597, and the deficiency was £2ll. He said his wife had no assets or income, and the insurance he had received as a result of the fire was much below the value of his stock and property. He had intended to restart in his business, but several creditors had insisted that he should file.
