Reed. 10 a.m. The £7,000 prize money for the Wrigley Marathon swim is to be divided equally among the 14 who made the best showing. None of the swimmers finished. There is bitter criticism from Georges Michel and Ernest Vierkotter over the decision to split the money.
TORONTO, Friday. Michel contends that the judge’s boat called him and that he had only to exceed Vierkotter’s mark to get the prize. A world challenge had been issued by Teddy Oke, backer of George Young, that Young will meet any swimmer at any place over a distance of from seven to ten miles for a £5,000 prize.
