handicapper has been most -* prompt in declaring the weights for the first day of the Avondale meeting, which opens to-day forthnight. Without going into a lengthy review of the handicaps, let it suffice to tabulate a half dozen in the two big events, Cup and Flying, an exceedingly difficult task with practically no form to go upon.
