THE SINGING MOUSE

Once there was a little mouse who lived all alone in a barn. The barn used to have horses in it, and then there was corn. But now the horses had gone; the farmer had a motor, and there was no more corn. Oh, how hungry the little mouse felt! One night she heard a funny noise. And she saw a queer-looking mouse singing! “I wish I could do that,” said the mouse. So she told the strange mouse her sad tale, and lie said he would teach her. •And next night little mouse went out singing at th© most fashionable mouse-holes. And she sang so well that she got quite a lot of money, and was never hungry again.
