NOTES Mrs. D. Gorrie returned to Auckland this week from. Cambridge. Miss Aileen Marsden has returned to Wellington from a visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. J. Thomson, of Wellington, are staying at the Star Hotel. Mrs. Armstrong has returned to Masterton from an extended visit to Auckland. Mrs. S. H. Stringer and Miss Beth Stringer left on Thursday for Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. Miss Dorothy Monk, of Rotorua, is visiting Auckland and is the guest of Mrs. Edmondson, Ponsonby. The Rev. S. L. Boot, of Northcote, with Mrs. Boot, will leave by the Aorangi for Sydney on Monday. =t= =*= Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Duncan have left Auckland to take up their residence at Cashmere Hills, Christchurch. Guests at the Royal Hotel are Mr. and Mrs.- W. Davy, of Hawera; Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson, of Gisborne; and Mrs. D. J. Godwin, of Hawera. Staying at the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. W. Gordon, of Wellington; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Duncan, of Wellington; Mr. and Mrs. Marillier, of Perth; and Mrs. A. P. Smith, of Wellington.
COMING-OF-AGE PARTY ! A very enjoyable dance was given during the week by Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Dingle at their residence in Takapuna, in honour of the coming of ago of their elder daughter, Miss W. Dingle. The large reception room, which was cleared for dancing was converted into a bower of crimson and gold, a latticed canopy of crimson and gold streamers entirely hid the ceiling, and suspended through it were tiny gold lanterns and gold and crimson roses. The supper-room was decorated with crimson and gold, and the cake, which was gay with flowers, was surrounded with 21 gold kewpies, each holding a tiny electric torch. Dance music was supplied by the Albertian Trio,” comprising Mr. 11. A. Bergquist, T. McDonald and G. Armstrong. Those present were: Mrs Dingle, scarlet georgette and gold. Youth at Helm . , SUCCESSFUL DANCE ORGANISED BY YOUNGER ! 1 SET I 1 TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIP A very bright function was the dance held in St. Mary’s Hall last evening, the proceeds of which went to provide a scholarship for the Victoria Maori Girls’ College. Gay Chinese lanterns were chosen for the main theme of the decorative scheme, while bamboo foliage with stately arum lilies made an effective setting for the dainty frocking of the dancers. Potted shrubs and ferns with clusters of pussy willow formed a pretty archway on the stage for Miss Jean Macindoe’s orchestra, while Iceland poppies and freezias brightened the supper room. Members of the committee present included: Miss Winifred Averill, who wore a dainty
frock of moonmist blue georgette, with drawn gold thread designs. Miss Meg Kissling, aqua green ring velvet frock, with georgette. Miss Marjorie Vaile, black frock of tiered chiffon, with shawl.
