DR. F. W. BURNHAM’S VISIT ADDRESSES IN AUCKLAND After visiting the thermal districts, Dr. F. W. Burnham, who arrived by the Tofua on Monday last, returned to Auckland last evening. Before leaving New Zealand on Wednesday next he will deliver several addresses at the Church of Christ, Ponsonbv Road, the Church of Christ, Dominion Road, and the Church of Christ, Onehunga.
An official tea and welcome to Auckland will be given to Dr. Burnham this afternoon at 5.30 o’clock in the “Penrith” rooms, and his first address will be delivered at the Dominion Road Church to-morrow. While in the thermal districts Dr. Burnham secured a series of good photographs which he will use during his lectures in the U.S.A. He is a world traveller of wide experience, and his journeyings in Russia in 1925 will be related in the course of his lectures. On returning to Auckland Dr. Burnham, who is accompanied by his wife, expressed his keen appraciation of New Zealand's thermal wonderland. Mrs. Burnham was similarly impressed with Rotorua, Wairakei and the Caves. For eight years Dr. Burnham was a member of the executive committee of the Federal Coupcil of Churches, and he comes to New Zealand both as president of the United Christian Missionary Society and delegate of the International Convention. He is a prominent preacher of the Churches of Christ and a member of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a director of the world alliance for international friendship through the churches, and of Near East relief work. He is one of the foremost advocates of the great programme of Christian unity.
