DR. W. T. WHITLEY’S VISIT

The greatest Baptist historian of the day, the Rev. Dr. W. T. Whitley, arrived in Auckland yesterdav to be the guest of the Rev. J. J. North principal of the Baptist College. Dr. Whitley was present at the quinquennial conference of the Baptist orld Alliance in Toronto, and for the last fortnight he has been in Wellington and Rotorua. He will stay in Auckland for about a week, delivering theological lectures to the students of the Baptist College, and will then visit the South Island and Australia before returning to England. From 1891 to 1902 he was in Australia as principal of the Baptist Colleg of \ Ictoria. He has written a great deal, having published many books and written for many periodicals. His last work, which appeared was “Baptists of London, and he is now preparing a volume of technical theologv fur pastors. Hr. "Whitley was welcomed last evening in the Tabernacle by the Auckland Baptist Auxiliary. The president, the Rev. E. X. Goring, Hr. -North and the Rev. J. W. Kemp expressed their pleasure at having so distinguished a visitor. After the welcome Hr. Whitley lectured on the life - . Bun - V *n, the greatest figure in Baptist history.
