TAKAPUNA BOATING

CLUB HAS GOOD YEAR MANY ACTIVITIES The report submitted at the annual meeting of the Takapuna Boating Club in the Clubhouse, Bayswater, last evening showed that the past year had been very successful. During the year a billiard table, complete with accessories, had been installed and alterations to the clubhouse had been made. A village fair, arranged monthly by the women's committee, had been held in the clubhouse and members had manned sideshows at the Auckland Winter Exhibition, an effort which brought much-needed financial assistance. A number of successful socials and dances had also been held and a boxing tournament had been organised and successfully carried out by Mr. G. Sutherland. A sailing programme of nine davs had been held during the season, the events being keenly contested. The Sea Scouts branch of the club continued to progress. The club had given a 12ft 6in boat to the troop. The club was indebted to all members and supporters who had presented trophies and made donations. Special thanks were due to Mr. G. Winstone. Jun., for the Winstone silver model yacht, Mr. W. J. Burnett, for the Burnett Cup and miniatures, Mrs. Hutchinson, for the Hutchinson Cup, and the Cornwell Cup entertainment committee for a donation of £lO. The balance-sheet showed a healthy tone. Assets over liabilities amounted to £4.299 13s 9d. income for year £S97 18s Sd and net profit £135 16s Bd. On behalf of the club the commodore, Mr. R. Lidgard, presented the retiring secretary, Mr. C. H. Hoverd, with a cheque and inscribed fountain pen. and the retiring treasurer, Mr. E. S. Collard, with an inscribed brief bag. The incoming commodore, Mr. J. J. Me* JCay, presented the retiring commodore, Mr. R. Lidgard, with a fountain per. Mr. O. Moller. on behalf of the lad*** committee, presented Mrs. R- Liagarc with a handbag. Officers were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. G. Winstone: vice-patrons. Messrs. W. Blomfield. O. Moller, A. Harris: commodore, Mr. J. J. Mackay; vice-commo-dore, Mr. C. P. Lock; rear-commodore. Mr. E. Denham; clubhouse captain. J.
