REVUE’S LAST NIGHTS

“LEAGUE OF NOTIONS” LEAVING

After a season which has been all too short for Aucklanders, the “League of Notions” Revue Company will sing its swan song at the magnificent St. James Theatre to-morrow night. Before grand opera takes the boards, however, the revue specialists have decided to give one more change of programme. To-night the League will produce its last array of breezy notions in song, dance, sketch and scena. Queenie Paul and Mike Connors, the leaders of the outfit, will sing the latest hits with that delightful counterpointed patter and melody*;, and probably, if the audience is insistent enough, they will give them “Breeze,” “Dew, Dew, Dewy Day” and “Bridget O’Flynn” once more. Linn Smith’s Jazz Band is billed for some new numbers in syncopation, done in novel style, and with a perfection of time. Beck, most humorous of low comedians, has thought out some bright sketches in which he will appear with his “offsider,” Ernie Paulasto. Valerie Rougal, the premiere danseuse, and that hard-"working bevy of beauties, the Exquisite Six, wiil stage some delightful ballets.

All the other members of the company are out to give the city a final show, which will keep their memory green for many months. There is bound to be a big rush on seats for the last two nights, so that patrons should book as soon as possible.

Within the week two important castings have been made by Universal for “Show Boat.” Emily Fitzroy will play Parenthia Ann Hawks and Alma Rubens has been selected for the role of Julie. At this writing, Harry Pollard, in spite of a three weeks’ discovery trip to New York, is without a Magnolia and without a Ravenal.
