DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
“LITTLE DORRIT” Last evening the Rev. A. B. Chappell presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship. Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, who was in charge of the programme for the evening, gave a review of ‘‘Little Dorrit,” whom she described as one of the finest of j Dickens’s women characters. Mrs. J. j D'Authreau and Miss B. D’Authreau | gave a character sketch in costume, ■ ’’Maggy and Little Dorrit,” and read- | ings were contributed as folows:
“Arthur Clennam Meets Flora Again,” Miss Adcock: ’’Young John’s Gift of Cigars” and “A Later Gift,” the president: “First Letter to Arthur Clennam,” Mrs. Kealy; “Storming of the Castle,” Mr. T. Clarkson: “Mr. Merdle’s Complaint,” Dr. Kenneth Gordon; “Shearing of the Patriarch,” • Mr. G. G. Grant. The subject for the next meeting will be "Dickens’s Originals.’ t
