KING COUNTRY STOCK SALES
Dalgety and Company, Limited, Te report having held their usual fortnight.ly sales at Taumarunui and Otorohanga. There was a very keen demand for all classes of sheep and also for fat and store cattle; pigs, however, were very dull of sale.
At Taumarunui there was a fair yarding- of sheep which consisted mainly of hoggets. These sold under very keen competition. Best ewe hoggets made'SSs lOd; others, 29s to 355; wether hoggets, 2Ss to 30s; small inferior mixed-sex hoggets, 235. 23s lOd to 255. Cattle were yarded in small numbers, but sold under very keen competition at advanced rates. At Otorohanga there was a very large yarding of cattle, principally bullocks. Buyers were present in very large numbers from all parts of the Waikato and as far south as Palmerston North. The competition for bullocks was somewhat slack and the bulk of the yarding was passed in under the hammer, but a fair number were sold privately afterw^ds.
