OPERA SEASON MONDAY
/YN Monday next the FullerGonsalez opera season will open at St. James Theatre with a performance of Verdi’s “II Trovatore.” Altogether 16 op-
eras will be performed, and Auckland music lovers can look forward with keen anticipation during the next week or two to a feast of opera. A strong cast of principals is
comprised of artists who have earned an international reputation in the leading opera houses of the world. Olga Poletti, who is here pictured, will be seen as Violetta in the second production, “La Traviata.” She is a delightful, bright-eyed person, and in addition to possessing a splendid coloratura soprano voice, is reputed to be gifted with great histrionic ability. “La Traviata” will be staged on Tuesday, September 11. ’ rl- •b :e •b r/ rr. «!* re.
