Acceptance List For Hutt Park

TWO AUCKLANDERS ENGAGED SMALL FIELDS IN TROTTERS’ HEATS rrcss Association. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The acceptances received by the Wellington Trotting Club for its fixture on September 15, while satisfactory in the pacers’ events, reveal a dearth of square-gaiters, the fields in both items staged for their benefit being very small indeed.

The New Zealand Cup Trial Handicap lias not drawn a liberal response from owners of horses engaged in the rich November event, only half a dozen of the 22 handicapped for the £3,000 Cup figuring in the 10-furlong trial placed at their disposal by the Wellington Club. The meagreness of the field, however, will not detract from an interesting contest, and the racing on Saturday week promises generally to be well up to the usual good standard witnessed at Hutt Park. Auckland followers of the fixture will have a special inetrest in .the proceedings, through the presence, of A. Julian’S pair. Medusa and Rolie Audubon, and the latter, who claims an engagement in the Great Northern Derby, will he making his initial appearance under silk. Following are the acceptances: NOVICE HANDICAP, Of £125; 3.3 class. 1£ miles.

A Busy Mentor “Togo’' Lee is kept busy attending to Tiger Salve, Colonel Thorpe. Nelson Dillon and Carberley, and his string does him credit in appearance. Tiger Salve is hitting out nicely and Promises to be an early winner, and Colonel Thorpe, despite many, many failures with the colours up. is fast taking friends by the resolute style in which he does his work. Nelson billon is not being unduly hustled, and Carberley, who looks in great heart after his holiday, should not be i°ng in striking form when the serious "’ork commences. A Sturdy Triumph One of the sturdiest young- trotters at present being educated at Alexandra Park is Jos. Tattley’s colt by The Triumph from Bell Beldon, dam of Battery Bell. On appearances he 'ery much resembles his aristocratic sire, while his style of locomotion 1 eaves nothing to be desired. Another strong feature in his favour is the evenness of his brain-box, and he J? already showing signs of being Possessed of a fair amount of speed. TROTTING FIXTURES Brighton T.C.—Sept. 5.
